Corridor function sensors are ideal for areas requiring continuous lighting, such as hallways or stairwells. This feature helps reduce energy consumption by offering "comfort level" lighting at 50% when no motion is detected, and 100% illumination when movement is detected. This can help improve safety and comply with legislation. An added benefit of these sensors is the option to configure them to only activate when natural daylight is low, preventing unnecessary illumination during the day.
Microwave vs. Other Proximity Sensors Unlike PIR sensors, which require a clear line of sight, microwave sensors can detect motion through solid objects. This means the sensor remains hidden within the light fitting, maintaining a clean design.
Customizable Settings You can easily adjust the settings to suit your needs by modifying the DIP switches on the sensor module:
- Detection Range: 100%, 75%, 50%, 30%, OFF
- Hold Time: 10min, 20min, 30min (minimum 10 minutes recommended to avoid damage to the lighting components)
- Daylight Threshold: Disabled, 50 Lux, 20 Lux, 5 Lux, 2 Lux
The key difference from standard proximity sensors is that instead of turning off completely, lights dim to 50% when no motion is detected, ensuring constant, energy-efficient illumination. For areas that don’t need continuous lighting, you may want to consider our Standard Proximity Sensor add-on.
